Welcome 4th Graders

Welcome students! I am so excited for this year. Just for your information, I am Cassie Tuckett. I was born and raised in Idaho. I loved my Elementary years. I love learning and hope to share that love with you. I hope to be able to teach with technology and learn more about the new technology that I don't know about. We will cover math, reading, history and evertyhing else you can think of. I can't wait to see your happy faces on the first day. I hope you are as excited as I am.

Webquest

What is a webquest?
A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. This definiton was retrieved from http://www.webquest.org/index.php.

The WebQuest I created could be used in a fourth grade class for science. Any teacher could use it to teach about living organims and what makes them living. It has the students research and learn all aobut it while incorporating different activities.

Digital Storytelling

Digital storytelling is taking a story and making a movie out of it. You can use digital storytelling in any subject. For my example they would use it as part of social studies assignment. I would use my digital story that I created for this class to show a good example to understand digital stories (featured below).
The following is a lesson plan outlining how I would teach the digital storytelling:

I. Utah State Core Curriculum Standard(s)
Standard 2Students will understand how Utah's history has been shaped by many diverse people, events, and ideas.
Students will understand: How Utah Native American legends have shaped Utah.

II. Lesson Objective(s)/Goal(s)
a. The student will know: About Utah Native American legends.
b. The students will do: Given information about digital storytelling and a Utah Native American legend students will create a digital story using the rubric.

III. Preparation (teacher materials, student materials, etc.)

a. Ask students if they know what digital storytelling is.
b. Have students go to the websites is groups to learn about digital storytelling. They will learn about digital stories and creative commons.
c. Students will view digital story Timpanogos Legend
d. Students will learn about the 7 step process to create digital story
e. Students will learn where to go for the music on the digital story
f. Students will be able to play around with Photo Story 3.
g. Students will put in groups and given a Utah Native American legend.
h. In their groups they will create a digital story about the Utah Native American legend.
i. When stories are completed we will share them in class.

VI. Evaluation of Student Progress
a. Pre-assessment: Students will know about Utah Native American legends
b. Formative: Observe the students as they, play with Photo Story 3 and visit the websites to learn about digital storytelling.
c. Post-assessment: Students create digital story based on rubric (see below)

Rubric for Digital Storytelling:

1. Must be 2-3 minutes in length 15
2. Must narrate the pictures 15
3. Must have credits pages 10
4. Must customize motion of pictures 10
